About Me

Hi, I'm Simon Challinor, a veteran developer with over 25 years of software, database and technical experience. I've worked with major corporates in Banking and Insurance, run my own consultancies from London and Hong Kong and worked with dozens of clients big and small in Asia and Europe.

My Code Philosophy

I've spent years learning through trial and error what it means to overengineer or underengineer and how to strike balance. As I've got older, I've come to know and appreciate the importance of well written documentation simply because I've experienced a lack of it in the past. Infact I now enjoy documenting so much it became one of the inspirations for the TextRoots project. I love to refactor, I love to rewrite and simplify code in phases so that latter development is easier and code is elegant. It's absolutely essential when writing large scale systems.

What Drives Me

After many years in corporates and running my own consultancies I believe its time to use my knowledge and experience to help build tools that really shape our collective future. I'm convinced that Web3 and Decentralisation are key to that vision and eventually the world will begin to understand their importance in driving a fairer future.

Beyond the Screen

When I'm not designing or coding, you might find me enjoying the food and culture of Hong Kong or if im in the UK I'm enjoying quiet family life, meditating or cooking. I love nostalgia and technology from the 80s and 90s when tech was fun, tactile and ever changing for the better. Thanks for stopping by.
